My arms were locked around his neck, my mind empty, my heart racing as fast as his was as he carried me through his apartment in hurried strides.

Before I could take in my surroundings, we were in a dark room that smelled like him: musky, soapy, and clean.

He kicked the door shut and growled. “Last chance to run.”

My chest heaved, and I shuddered as I tamped down the nerves that were doing a number on my stomach. Excitement, trepidation, elation, and desperation were mingling together.

“I’m not running.” My voice didn’t sound like my own. 

He lifted my hands up above my head and pinned my wrists to the cold steel door. “After tonight, you’re mine. And if you run, I’ll catch you.”

His tone was husky, deep, and commanding as he glued his gaze to mine. “Say it, Layla. You’re mine.”

Any other time, I would kick a man in the balls who thought he could own me. But I couldn’t. Not with Sam. I wanted to be his. Maybe it was the lust. Maybe it was some magical spell he had over me. It didn’t matter. What did, though, was sating the need I had for him to kiss me, fuck me, and do whatever the hell he pleased. I felt what he felt. I felt his desire like it was my own. I felt his heart beating in time with mine. 

I swallowed the knots clogging my throat as I searched his eyes. Something far more than lust swirled in them, and I sucked in air.

“You feel what I feel, don’t you?” he asked in such a soft and loving tone. 

I nodded slowly, afraid to admit that whatever was happening to us or between wasn’t just a one-time thing, and that freaked me the fuck out. But I would dwell on that later. He needed to stop talking. “Sam.” His name fell from my lips on a whimper. “I’m dying here. I want you as badly as you want me. So shut up and do something, or I’ll tear you to shreds.”

He chuckled as he let me go and took a step back. “Do as you please, baby doll.”
